PRINCETON, MN — Four Princeton residents were killed and one other person was critically hurt in a head-on crash on Highway 95 near Princeton on Monday afternoon. The Minnesota State Patrol says the collision happened just before 3 p.m. east of 75th Avenue in Mille Lacs County.
How the crash unfolded
Investigators said a Honda HRV heading west crossed the center line and struck a Volkswagen Jetta traveling east. A Nissan Altima behind the Jetta was hit by a tire from one of the vehicles involved.
The patrol did not say why the Honda crossed over the center line. The crash closed out as a fatal two-vehicle head-on collision with a third vehicle caught in the aftermath.
People killed and injured
The driver of the Jetta, 60-year-old Jeffrey Geisler of Princeton, died in the crash. Two passengers in the Jetta, 16-year-old Steven Geisler and 57-year-old Susan Geisler, also of Princeton, were killed.
A fourth Jetta passenger, 18-year-old Janessa Geisler of Princeton, was taken to North Memorial with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda, 80-year-old Marilyn Marshall of Princeton, also died at the scene.
Other driver was unhurt
The driver of the Nissan, 60-year-old Nadean Gross of Princeton, was not injured. No additional details about the people involved were released in the initial State Patrol report.
The crash remains a stark reminder of how quickly a center-line violation can turn deadly on a rural highway.
