A leading hotel in the west of Cornwall is running a walking weekend in May.
Guests at Budock Vean near Falmouth will be strolling around spectacular Helford an area of the Lizard Peninsula.
Offering bracing sea air and an expert insight into Cornwall’s multi-layered history. Which will include the flora, fauna and its industrial past.
Plus the chance to sample the stunning lands and striking coastal scenery of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Walking Weekend In West Cornwall
A series of guided walks during the first weekend in May using the Budock Vean, Country House hotel as the base.
Located in 65 acres running down to Helford Creek including its own golf course and woodland gardens.
The weekend from Friday 3rd to Monday 6th May will combine three nights of top-class facilities with great food and two days of guided walking tours.
Selecting walking routes Steve Crummay of Explore in Cornwall will make it comfortable for all.
Focussing on the north and south banks of the Helford on the Lizard Peninsula the walks will be traversing ancient woodlands, farmland, estuaries, bays. Plus National Nature Reserves and Special Areas of Conservation that surround the hotel.
“So many of us spend too much time in front of a screen and not enough time properly looking at the world around us,” says Steve Crummay. “With the wonderful effects on the mind and body of walking in amazing land and seascapes. We will be looking closer at plants, wildlife and the signs our ancestors left on our planet.
“Cornwall has so many fantastic places filled with special wildlife and history and on our walks we explore hidden gems that might otherwise never be noticed.”
“There should be the chance to spot some of our iconic wildlife. Atlantic grey seals, breeding Fulmars and other seabirds. Or maybe the exotic blue flash of a kingfisher. Along with some of the stunning wildflowers that Cornwall is blessed with.”
Easy Day Of Walking Plus Lunch!
Covering around six to seven miles each day including a packed lunch. Although walking with Steve is not about speed but how much there is to be seen.
The hotel also offers golf, tennis, swimming and hot-tubbing or guests can book themselves in for relaxing treatments in the Natural Health Spa after their exertion.
“Our walking holidays give guests a real experience of what Cornwall is about,” says the Budock Vean’s Martin Barlow. “Steve is an exceptional guide – full of fascinating insight and knowledge – so we know we’re offering the very best in terms of the walks themselves, along with time for relaxing here in lovely surroundings and getting fortified with fantastic food to keep our walkers going.”
The Budock Vean’s 2024 Walking Weekend runs from Friday 3rd to Monday 6th May and costs from £489 per person including dinner, bed and breakfast.
Plus guided walks with Steve and a sandwich packed lunch. Walkers will also be sent a full kit list ahead of their stay.
