THOMSON TWP, MN — One man was killed and another was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Thomson Township, north of Esko. The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office said both men were from Barnum and that the crash remains under investigation.
What Deputies Found
Deputies were called to the scene just before 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Thomson Road and Kangas Road. When they arrived, they found the vehicle had left the roadway.
Officials said no other vehicles were involved.
Victims Identified
The sheriff’s office identified the man who died as 25-year-old Tyler Nynas. The other man, 26-year-old Alexander Wheeler, was airlifted from the scene with critical injuries.
Both men were from Barnum, according to authorities.
Agencies Assisting
The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office said several agencies helped at the scene. That list included the Cloquet Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Cloquet Area Fire District, Esko Fire Department, Carlton Fire Department and LifeLink III air ambulance.
The sheriff’s office has not released any additional details about what led to the crash.
