ST. CLOUD, MN — An 11-year-old boy is in custody after police say he stabbed an 18-year-old he did not know inside a St. Cloud business Tuesday evening.
Officers say the attack happened in the vestibule of a business in the 900 block of Cooper Avenue South. The teenager was taken to the hospital with significant but not life-threatening injuries.
How police say it happened
According to St. Cloud police, the boy confronted the victim inside the business and used a knife during the incident. Several people at the scene helped restrain the child before officers arrived.
Police said they recovered a knife at the scene. The 11-year-old was not injured in the encounter.
Teen taken to hospital
The 18-year-old was transported for medical care after the stabbing. Authorities said his injuries were serious, but they were not considered life-threatening.
Police did not release the names of either person involved.
Case remains under review
The child was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for evaluation after being placed in custody. Police said the case is still under investigation.
At this stage, authorities have not said what led to the attack or whether any charges have been filed.
