MELROSE, MN — Three people were hurt in a crash Saturday afternoon on Interstate 94 about three miles northwest of Melrose. The Minnesota State Patrol said the wreck was reported at 1:16 p.m. and involved a Chevrolet Malibu and a Nissan Altima traveling westbound.
The driver of the Altima, 33-year-old Jackie Dennis of Sandy Springs, Georgia, and two passengers were taken to Melrose Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Malibu driver, 26-year-old Demetrius Rosas of St. Paul, was not injured.
Crash Sent Three to Hospital
The patrol said both vehicles were moving west on I-94 when they collided. Officials did not release details on what caused the crash.
All three people in the Altima were treated for injuries that were described as not life-threatening. Rosas remained unhurt at the scene.
Separate Fatal Wreck Reported
In a separate case, the state patrol is investigating a fatal crash reported Sunday at 3:57 p.m. on I-94 about four miles northwest of Evansville in Grant County. That wreck involved three vehicles.
Authorities said the people killed or hurt in that crash were from Jamestown and Mandan, North Dakota, and Woodbury, Minnesota. Names had not been released as of the report.
Investigation Still Ongoing
The state patrol has not said what led to either crash. No additional information was immediately available on the condition of the people involved in the Grant County wreck.
Both incidents happened along the same stretch of Interstate 94 in west-central Minnesota, but investigators have treated them as separate crashes.
