ERDAHL TWP, MN — One person was killed and three others were hurt in a head-on crash Sunday on Interstate 94 in Grant County. The collision happened just before 4 p.m. at milepost 80 in Erdahl Township.
Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow said the crash happened in a construction zone with head-to-head traffic. A Tesla traveling east collided head-on with a Ford, and a third vehicle then struck the others after the first impact.
Who Was Involved
The Tesla driver was a 73-year-old man from Woodbury who died at the scene. His passenger, a 65-year-old Woodbury woman, suffered serious injuries.
The Ford driver was a 24-year-old man from Jamestown who was also seriously hurt. The driver of the third vehicle, a woman from Mandan, had non-life-threatening injuries.
Road Closed After Crash
I-94 was closed while emergency crews worked the scene and investigators responded. Traffic was detoured around the crash area during the response.
The State Patrol said the crash site was in an active construction zone, where traffic was being carried in a head-to-head pattern.
Agencies At The Scene
Multiple agencies responded, including the Minnesota State Patrol and Grant County Sheriff’s Office. Ashby Fire and Ambulance, Evansville Fire, North Memorial EMS, and Lifelink III also assisted.
Officials did not release any additional details about what led to the collision.
