ONAMIA, MN — A 74-year-old Wahkon woman died Monday morning in a crash on Highway 169 in Mille Lacs County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The collision happened at 8:09 a.m. in South Harbor Township, just north of Onamia.
Troopers said the woman was driving a 2005 Buick LeSabre westbound on Stevens Road and tried to cross the northbound lanes of the highway when it was struck by a northbound 2007 Ford F-150.
What Troopers Reported
The driver of the Buick was identified as Lynn Martha Stalker. The State Patrol said she suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
The pickup driver, Charlotte Marie Hokkanen, 50, of Foley, was taken to Mille Lacs Health Systems in Onamia with non-life-threatening injuries.
Road Conditions At The Scene
The State Patrol said the roadway was dry when the crash happened. No other contributing factors were listed in the brief report provided.
The location put the crash at a busy highway crossing near Onamia, where Stevens Road meets Highway 169 in southern Mille Lacs County.
Emergency Crews Responded
Fire, police and ambulance crews from Onamia, along with the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office and Mille Lacs Ambulance Service, assisted at the scene.
The report did not say whether the highway was closed or how long crews remained at the site. The State Patrol continues to handle the crash investigation.
