EDINA, MN — A 32-year-old Champlin man died Sunday after a one-vehicle crash on northbound Highway 169 in Edina, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Authorities said the crash happened just before 12:40 p.m. near Highway 62 when the driver’s Toyota Rav4 swerved left and struck the cement median barrier.
The driver was identified as Ryan Michael Eiler. He was taken to Hennepin Healthcare, where he later died.
Crash Details
The State Patrol said the SUV was traveling on Highway 169 when it abruptly moved left into the median barrier. The crash involved only one vehicle.
Officials said the roadway was dry at the time of the wreck. Eiler was wearing a seat belt, and investigators said alcohol was not detected.
Driver Identified
Authorities identified the driver as Ryan Michael Eiler of Champlin. He was 32 years old.
The crash left him with fatal injuries despite being transported for medical care. No other injuries were reported in the information released by the State Patrol.
Investigation Continues
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. State patrol officials did not say what led the vehicle to swerve before impact.
