Their aim is to get customers socialising rather than pushing their social media!
The pub has launched the scheme for Christmas. However, if it works well then it could continue into the New Year too.

It is located in Wareham Forest, just outside the town of Wareham.
Its owner is hoping that diners will get chatting rather than snapping.

His aim is to get the customers appreciating the whole dining and pub experience. And without the phone taking over the dining experience .

Marketing Manager Megan McCann says: “Too often diners spend their time on the phone posting pictures and not enough appreciating the food and ambience of the inn.”

Chatter Rather Than Clicks At The Not So Silent Woman
Although called the ‘Silent Woman’ the owner would prefer that it was chatter rather than clicks filling the air.
Once called the Angel Inn it had connections with smuggling.

The story goes it was an earlier landlady and her loose lips that upset the visiting smugglers. Stopping to rest, they would talk of their nefarious activities. And she would chatter to others. Even to the revenue men.
And they decided that a landlady with no tongue would put a stop to her gossiping. From then on the pub has long been known as the ‘Silent Woman’.

Although it appears that the truer version was because of Thomas Hardy’s mention it in ‘The Return of a Native’. He called it The Quiet Lady in the 1920’s and the pub then became ‘The Silent Woman’.
