FARGO, ND — A 60-year-old Mahnomen man died after a Thursday afternoon crash in Fargo involving a motorcycle and three other vehicles near downtown. The North Dakota Highway Patrol said the collision happened around 3:21 p.m. at Main Avenue and South University Drive.
Investigators said the man was riding a 2007 Harley-Davidson westbound on Main Avenue when he ran a red light and hit the rear of a southbound 2023 Subaru Ascent. He was thrown from the motorcycle and later died at Sanford Medical Center.
How The Crash Unfolded
According to the patrol, the Subaru was driven by a 53-year-old Fargo woman and carried a 67-year-old female passenger believed to be from Vacaville, California. The motorcycle then struck a Ford F-150 driven by a 23-year-old Fargo man.
The Harley-Davidson also hit a 2006 Ford Fusion driven by a 20-year-old Fargo woman that was behind the pickup. The patrol said the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
No Other Injuries Reported
No one else was hurt in the crash, and officials said everyone else involved was wearing a seat belt. The rider was taken to Sanford Medical Center after the wreck, where he died of his injuries.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol did not name the people involved in the release. The crash is still under investigation by the North Dakota State Patrol.
Intersection Closed For Hours
Reporting from the Forum said the crash shut down the intersection for several hours Thursday. Fargo police redirected traffic while the scene was investigated and cleared.
The wreck involved a busy stretch near downtown Fargo and drew a response from local officers and state troopers. Officials have not said whether any citations or charges will follow the investigation.
