CAMBRIDGE, MN — One driver died and another was taken for treatment after a crash between an SUV and a van Wednesday morning in Cambridge Township. The collision happened about 11:30 a.m. at Highway 95 NE and Vickers Street NE, according to the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency crews had to pull both drivers from their vehicles. Authorities said neither vehicle had passengers.
Response at the scene
The crash brought out multiple agencies, including the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Cambridge Police Department, Cambridge Fire Department, Isanti Police Department and Allina Ambulance Service. Officials have not said what led to the collision.
The sheriff’s office said the SUV driver died at the scene. The van driver was taken to a medical facility for treatment.
Investigation underway
The Minnesota State Patrol is leading the investigation and said it will release updates as they become available. Authorities have not yet identified the SUV driver.
That identification will come after confirmation by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office and notification of family.
What authorities have not said
Investigators have not released the names of the people involved or the cause of the crash. The condition of the van driver also has not been disclosed.
The sheriff’s office said the case remains open and details are still being gathered.
