JAMESTOWN, ND — Two men were killed and a woman was seriously hurt after a head-on crash between two pickup trucks late Friday night in Stutsman County. The collision happened about 28 miles northeast of Jamestown, on State Highway 20 near Courtenay.
North Dakota Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 10:15 p.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado traveling north crossed the centerline and entered the southbound lane.
How the Crash Unfolded
Investigators said the Silverado was moving north at a high rate of speed when it crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a southbound GMC Sierra head-on. The force of the collision left both drivers dead at the scene.
The driver of the Silverado was a 23-year-old man from McHenry, and the driver of the Sierra was a 54-year-old man from Edgeley. Highway Patrol said neither man was wearing a seatbelt.
Woman Taken To Hospital
A 52-year-old Edgeley woman riding in the GMC Sierra suffered serious injuries. She was taken by ambulance to Jamestown Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities said she was wearing a seatbelt.
Investigation Still Open
The names of those involved have not yet been released. The North Dakota State Highway Patrol said the crash remains under investigation.
Officials have not said whether any other factors played a role in the collision.
