GRANT COUNTY, MN — A Sunday afternoon crash on Interstate 94 south of Fergus Falls left a 73-year-old Woodbury man dead and three other people injured, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The wreck happened just before 4 p.m. near Erdahl in Grant County and involved three vehicles.
State Patrol later identified the man who died as Harold Ennulat. His 65-year-old wife, Kari, was seriously hurt, and the 24-year-old driver of the other vehicle had life-threatening injuries.
How the crash unfolded
Investigators said a westbound vehicle crossed into an eastbound lane and hit one of two vehicles traveling east. A third vehicle then struck the other two vehicles at the scene.
The crash happened in a construction zone, which is part of what investigators are looking at as they piece together the sequence of events. The State Patrol said it was still investigating the cause.
Injuries and identities
Along with Harold Ennulat and his wife, the other people involved were identified as 24-year-old Koleman Lind of Jamestown and 63-year-old Debra Middleton of Mandan. Lind suffered life-threatening injuries, while Middleton had non-life-threatening injuries.
The earlier report from Sunday night said details on the fatalities were not yet known. The update released Monday morning clarified that one person died and three others were hurt.
Emergency crews on scene
Grant County deputies responded to the crash with help from Ashby Fire and Ambulance, North Memorial EMS, Evansville Fire Department and Lifelink. The agencies worked the scene after the collision on the busy stretch of interstate.
The Minnesota State Patrol said more information was expected to be released Monday as the investigation continued. No further details were immediately available.
