ERDAHL TWP, MN — One person was killed and three others were hurt in a crash Sunday afternoon on Interstate 94 in Grant County, Minnesota State Patrol said. The wreck happened just before 4 p.m. at Mile Post 80 in a construction zone with head-to-head traffic.
Investigators said a Tesla traveling east collided head-on with a Ford, and a third eastbound vehicle then hit the other vehicles after the first crash. The crash shut down I-94 while responders worked at the scene and traffic was diverted.
Who Was Hurt
The driver of the Tesla, a 73-year-old Woodbury man, was killed in the crash. His passenger, a 65-year-old Woodbury woman, was seriously injured.
The Ford driver, a 24-year-old Jamestown man, was also seriously hurt. The driver of the third vehicle, a Mandan woman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Crash Scene Response
Several agencies responded, including the Minnesota State Patrol, Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Ashby Fire and Ambulance, Evansville Fire, North Memorial EMS and Lifelink III. Officials did not release additional details on the cause of the crash beyond the construction-zone traffic pattern.
The highway closure remained in place during the response, with vehicles sent around the scene.

The State Patrol’s account shows the collision unfolded in a work zone where traffic was running head-to-head. No other injuries or updates were reported in the initial information shared about the crash.
Authorities had not said whether any citations or further investigation steps were expected.
