PRINCETON, MN — A three-vehicle crash on Highway 95 in Mille Lacs County killed four people from Princeton on Monday, July 13, after one vehicle crossed the center line and hit another head-on. The Minnesota State Patrol said the crash happened at 2:54 p.m. near 7702 Highway 95 in Princeton Township, just east of Princeton.
One passenger in the Volkswagen, 18-year-old Janessa Marie Geisler, was taken to a North Memorial Health hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Nissan involved in the crash was not injured.
How the crash unfolded
According to the State Patrol, a 2026 Honda HR-V was traveling westbound just east of 75th Avenue when it crossed the center line and struck an eastbound 2013 Volkswagen Jetta. A 2014 Nissan Altima traveling behind the Jetta was then hit by a tire from one of the other vehicles.
The Honda driver was Marilyn Diane Marshall, 80, of Princeton. The Volkswagen driver was Jeffrey Allen Geisler, 60, also of Princeton.
Those killed and injured
Marshall, Geisler, and the Volkswagen passengers Susan Marie Geisler, 57, and Steven Allen Geisler, 16, all died from their injuries, authorities said. Janessa Marie Geisler, 18, was the only person reported to survive with serious injuries.
Nadean Marie Gross, 60, of Princeton, was driving the Nissan and suffered no reported injuries. The State Patrol said the road was dry at the time of the crash.
What investigators reported
The State Patrol reported that Marshall and Susan Marie Geisler were not wearing seat belts. No other contributing factors were listed in the brief report released after the crash.
The wreck shut down part of Highway 95 traffic near Princeton as investigators worked the scene. The crash remains one of the deadliest recent traffic incidents reported in Mille Lacs County.
