JEFFERSON COUNTY, WI — A Wisconsin State Patrol trooper arrested a 32-year-old man Friday afternoon after pulling him over on I-94 in Jefferson County for speeding and multiple moving violations. Troopers said four children were in the vehicle at the time of the stop.
The stop happened near State Highway 89 around 3:30 p.m. The driver was later taken into custody on suspicion of operating while intoxicated.
How The Stop Began
According to state patrol, the vehicle drew attention because of speeding and other traffic violations. After the stop, the trooper conducted field sobriety tests.
The driver complied with those tests, and officers then arrested him on OWI suspicion. State patrol also said the arrest involved anticipated charges related to possession of open intoxicants.
Children Turned Over Safely
Wisconsin State Patrol said the four children in the car were between the ages of 8 and 13. Another adult took custody of the children after the arrest.
Officials said the man was booked into the Jefferson County Jail. If convicted, this would be his first OWI offense.
Case Details So Far
The arrest information came from Wisconsin State Patrol. No court outcome was included in the report, and the charges were described as anticipated rather than final.
The incident adds to a familiar road safety warning: traffic stops can quickly turn into impaired driving arrests when officers spot behavior that suggests more than a routine violation.
