LAS VEGAS, NV — A 19-year-old driver from Arizona was killed Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 376 in Nye County, according to Nevada Highway Patrol. Officials said the collision happened around 7 a.m. near mile marker 22, about 25 miles north of Tonopah.
Investigators said the teen’s Volkswagen Golf drifted out of its southbound lane and moved across the center line into the path of a northbound Kenworth commercial motor vehicle pulling double-tank trailers. The impact left the Volkswagen spun out and stopped on the dirt shoulder, while the truck came to rest ahead in the northbound lane.
How the collision unfolded on SR 376
Nevada Highway Patrol said the Volkswagen was traveling southbound when it failed to stay within its lane. The car crossed into the northbound side of the roadway and struck the front left portion of the Kenworth truck.
That contact hit the Volkswagen’s front left side and caused it to rotate counterclockwise before stopping off the pavement. The truck driver stopped farther ahead in the northbound lane after the crash.
The account released by investigators focuses on the vehicle movements in the seconds before impact. It does not say what led the Volkswagen to cross the center line.
Victim identified as 19-year-old Enoch Phillip Trevizo
Police identified the driver of the Volkswagen as Enoch Phillip Trevizo of Oracle, Arizona. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nevada Highway Patrol said a passenger in the Volkswagen was also badly hurt. That person was flown by emergency medical aircraft to a hospital in Reno for treatment.
Authorities did not release additional details about the passenger’s condition beyond describing the injuries as serious.
Truck driver not reported injured in the crash
Officials said the other vehicle involved was a white Kenworth commercial motor vehicle with double-tank trailers. The truck was traveling northbound on State Route 376 when the collision occurred.
Nevada Highway Patrol did not report injuries to the truck driver in the information released after the crash. The truck stopped ahead in the northbound lane once the collision was over.
No further details were provided about the load the truck was carrying or whether any other vehicles were involved.
Impairment has not been ruled in or out
Investigators have not said whether impairment was suspected in the crash. The agency also did not give any indication in its initial account about speed, distraction or mechanical problems.

That figure underscores how often troopers are being called to the state’s deadliest roadway incidents. The agency’s latest count includes both the number of fatal crashes and the total number of deaths linked to those investigations.
