Police say officer was found after call to Wildwood Avenue
Officers were dispatched just before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a person down at the residence. When they arrived, they found a deceased man later determined to be the off-duty officer.
During an afternoon briefing, Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier said the case remains an active investigation. He also said the department wants to protect the family’s privacy while the inquiry continues.
Karen Solomon remains wanted for questioning
Law enforcement said Karen Solomon was still being sought as of Tuesday afternoon. Police described her as potentially armed, but did not say whether she had been located.
Because investigators had not finished processing the scene, officials did not release additional details about how the officer died or what led authorities to focus on Karen Solomon.
Multiple agencies join Worcester County probe
Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said several agencies are involved in the case, including Worcester police, Massachusetts State Police assigned to the district attorney’s office, the State Police air wing, Homeland Security Investigations and the U.S. Marshals Service.
Early called the death a tragedy and said the coordinated response reflects the seriousness of the investigation.
