RENO, NV — Reno police are investigating a fatal crash that killed an 18-year-old woman riding a scooter near the intersection of Mae Anne Avenue and McCarran Boulevard.
The collision happened just before 12:30 p.m. Police said the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
Police say pedestrians crossed McCarran Boulevard against traffic flow
According to the initial investigation, a group of pedestrians ran across McCarran Boulevard against the flow of traffic.
While crossing, one of the pedestrians, identified by police as the 18-year-old woman on a scooter, was hit by a vehicle passing through the intersection.
Woman pronounced dead at the scene after being struck
Authorities said the woman died at the scene after the impact.
Reno police added that speed and impairment do not appear to have been factors in the crash, based on the information available so far.

The case remains an active investigation as police continue to review what happened at the intersection.
