MEDFORD, MA — A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 93 in Medford sent a boat and trailer overturning into traffic late Friday night, creating a major lane blockage in both directions of the roadway.
State police said the wreck happened just after 9:30 p.m. near mile marker 21.4 in the southbound lanes. Traffic was still able to move through the area as crews worked to clear the scene.

According to state police, the boat and trailer flipped onto the roadway and blocked the two leftmost travel lanes in the southbound direction.
Another vehicle involved in the crash also stopped in a way that blocked two right lanes, leaving much of the southbound side affected while the response was underway.
Traffic kept moving as crews waited for tow trucks
Despite the crash, drivers were not fully shut out of the interstate. Police said traffic continued to get by while the scene was managed.
Tow trucks arrived later to remove the vehicles involved, including the boat and trailer that had overturned into the road.
Medford crash adds to late-night delays on a busy corridor
I-93 is a key route through the Boston area, so even a partial blockage can quickly slow evening traffic. In this case, the combination of a trailer load and an additional vehicle created a wider disruption than a typical single-car wreck.
Authorities did not report any injuries in the information released about the crash.
