BISMARCK, ND — A man arrested after a robbery and police chase in Bismarck has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.
Matthew Bruhn pleaded guilty to seven felony counts before receiving the sentence this week, along with five years of supervised probation.
Police say the case began with a stolen vehicle and pharmacy theft
Authorities said Bruhn stole a vehicle, threatened a worker at a Bismarck pharmacy and took pills during the January incident.
Police then say he led officers on a pursuit that forced a shutdown of the Grant Marsh Bridge on I-94.
Judge adds probation, mental health exam and restitution
In addition to the prison term, the judge ordered Bruhn to undergo a mental health exam.
He was also told to pay more than $1,300 to the Bismarck Police Department and over $21,000 to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Seven felony counts ended in a prison sentence
The court action followed Bruhn’s guilty plea on seven felony counts tied to the robbery, theft and chase.
The sentence closes the case for now, with supervision to follow after the prison term is served.
