SHAKOPEE, MN — A motorist died and an 18-year-old man was taken to the hospital after a three-vehicle crash on Highway 169 in Shakopee Monday morning. Minnesota State Patrol said the crash involved a Ford Taurus, a Peterbilt semitruck and a Ford F-150.
Troopers were called to the scene at 7:56 a.m. and the crash shut down three lanes of the highway.
How the crash unfolded
State Patrol said the Taurus was traveling northbound when it left the roadway and crossed through the center median. It then struck the trailer of the Peterbilt and a southbound Ford F-150.
The driver of the Taurus died at the scene. Officials said the driver’s identity was not immediately known.
Injuries and vehicle damage
The 18-year-old man driving the F-150 was taken to the hospital with suspected injuries. The semitruck driver was not hurt, according to the agency.
The report did not say what caused the Taurus to leave the road. Officials said the teen’s injuries were suspected, but no further medical details were released.
Investigation continues
Law enforcement is investigating the crash. No additional details were immediately released about the sequence of events beyond the State Patrol’s initial account.
Traffic impacts were expected to continue while crews and investigators worked the scene Monday morning.
