WHITE BEAR TOWNSHIP, MN — Two drivers were seriously hurt in a head-on crash early Saturday near Highway 61 and Aspen Lane in White Bear Township, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The collision happened around 1 a.m. and involved a Honda heading north and a Toyota heading south.
Officials said both drivers were taken to a local hospital after the crash.
Crash details
Investigators said the vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on Highway 61 when they collided. The State Patrol has not released additional details about what led to the crash.
The location near Aspen Lane put the wreck on a busy stretch of roadway in the north Twin Cities suburbs.
Driver taken into custody
Officials said the Toyota driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. No further information was released about the driver’s condition or the extent of the injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by state authorities.
