ERDAHL TOWNSHIP, MN — Two drivers were killed and a passenger suffered life-threatening injuries in a three-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 94 in Grant County on Sunday afternoon. The crash happened near Erdahl Township, about 10 miles from Elbow Lake, and involved vehicles traveling in both directions before a third car struck the scene.
How the crash unfolded
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the driver of an eastbound Ford Fusion and the driver of a westbound Tesla Y collided on I-94. After that initial impact, an eastbound Toyota Crown struck both vehicles.
The patrol said the Toyota driver was not hurt. Officials also said none of the drivers were suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.
Who was killed and hurt
The people killed were identified as 73-year-old Harold Ennulat of Woodbury, Minnesota, who was driving the Tesla, and 24-year-old Koleman Lind of Jamestown, North Dakota, who was driving the Ford Fusion. The Tesla passenger, 65-year-old Kari Ennulat of Woodbury, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The crash left one vehicle occupant with serious injuries and closed the day with two deaths, according to the state report. No other injuries were reported.
Investigation continues
The Minnesota State Patrol said the cause of the crash is still under investigation. The information released so far comes from a Minnesota Department of Public Safety report.
Authorities have not said what led to the first collision or whether road conditions played a role.
