FERGUS FALLS, MN — A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 south of Fergus Falls left one person dead and three others injured Sunday afternoon near Erdahl. The Minnesota State Patrol said the wreck happened just before 4 p.m. in a construction zone.
Officials said the crash involved a vehicle driven by a 24-year-old man from Jamestown, North Dakota, and a vehicle carrying 73-year-old Harold Ennulat and 65-year-old Kari Ennulat of Woodbury, Minnesota. A third vehicle then struck the others, according to the update released Monday.
How the crash unfolded
State Patrol said a westbound vehicle crossed into eastbound traffic and hit one of two vehicles heading east. The third vehicle then crashed into the other two vehicles.
The agency did not release a full explanation of what led to the initial collision. It said more information was expected to be shared Monday as the investigation continued.
Victims and injuries
Harold Ennulat, 73, was killed in the crash. His wife, Kari Ennulat, 65, was seriously hurt, and the driver from Jamestown suffered life-threatening injuries.
Debra Middleton, 63, of Mandan, North Dakota, had non-life-threatening injuries, officials said. The state patrol did not identify which vehicle she was in.
Emergency crews responded
Grant County deputies responded along with Ashby Fire and Ambulance, North Memorial EMS, Evansville Fire Department and Lifelink. The crash scene remained under investigation after the Sunday afternoon wreck.
The location was listed near Erdahl, a small community in Grant County south of Fergus Falls along I-94.
