GRANT COUNTY, MN — Two drivers were killed and a passenger was badly hurt Sunday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 in Grant County. The Minnesota State Patrol said the crash happened at 3:57 p.m. when a Tesla Model Y and a Ford Fusion collided, followed by a Toyota Crown striking the vehicles.
The driver of the Ford, 24-year-old Koleman John Lind of Jamestown, North Dakota, died in the crash. The Tesla driver, 73-year-old Harold Ennulat of Woodbury, also was killed.
Crash Sequence
State Patrol said the Tesla and Toyota were both traveling east when the Ford was headed the opposite direction. The Ford and Tesla collided first, setting off the chain of impacts.
After that collision, the eastbound Toyota hit the vehicles involved in the crash. Officials did not say which lane the vehicles were in or what led up to the initial impact.
Passenger Injuries
A 65-year-old woman riding in the Tesla was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her name has not been released.
The Toyota driver was not hurt, according to the State Patrol. No other injuries were reported in the crash.
What Officials Said
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the wreck. The report released Sunday gave the time, location and the sequence of impacts, along with the names of the drivers who died.
I-94 is a major east-west route through west-central Minnesota, and the crash tied up part of the roadway Sunday afternoon. Officials have not said whether speed, weather or other factors played a role.
