BROWN COUNTY, WI — The Wisconsin State Patrol says a 68-year-old De Pere man was armed when he was arrested late June 12 on suspicion of his fourth operating while intoxicated offense. Troopers identified the driver as David Lee Williquette.
According to the agency, the stop happened about 10:23 p.m. on I-41 near County Highway S in Brown County after a trooper saw a pickup truck drifting out of its lane.
Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest
The trooper pulled the truck over and said the driver showed signs of impairment. After field sobriety tests, authorities arrested Williquette on suspicion of fourth-offense OWI.
State Patrol said he is also facing charges of going armed while intoxicated, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.
Case Still Under Review
The agency said the case remains under investigation while it waits for legal blood sample results. No further details were provided about the weapon or the condition of the driver at the time of the stop.
Officials did not say when the blood test results might be finished or when the case could move forward.
Prior Drunk Driving Conviction
Online court records show Williquette was convicted of third-offense OWI in Outagamie County in 2012. In that case, he was sentenced to 100 days in jail with work release and ordered to complete an alcohol treatment program.
The new arrest adds to a history of drunk driving cases now being reviewed by investigators and the court system.
