The post Video Workshop: Tango Five Step with Outside Swivels first appeared on Delta.Dance.

This half-hour workshop video covers a way to take a basic syllabus figure in Tango, the Five Step, and modify the alignment and ending with the use of a Spanish Drag, Same Foot Lunge and Outside Swivels to create a beautiful combination for more interesting dancing.
Filmed during a group class, the workshop explores different alignments possible for the Five Step, then different timing options, then goes on to adding some variations at the end.

We struggled a little with whether we should include this workshop in our video series, as it is a bit too advanced for typical social dance settings. Leading and following the Outside Swivels requires a strong understanding of alignments, sway, and body position in relation to foot alignments. But with focused practice, it should be possible for more experienced social dancers, and for that reason we decided to go ahead and make it available.
