We’re pleased to announce that Delta Dance was recognized by FeedSpot as one of Canada’s top dance blogs.
FeedSpot is a content aggregator and curation platform that helps users discover and follow blogs, news websites, YouTube channels, podcasts, and influencers across thousands of topics. Founded by Anuj Agarwal, FeedSpot operates as both a content reader (like an RSS reader) and a content ranking platform.
FeedSpot has a long, established history, and was created to address the challenge of staying current with the ever-growing number of content sources online. It combines RSS feed reading with human and algorithmic curation to help users find high-quality content tailored to their interests. It appeals to individuals, researchers, and others looking to monitor niche content or keep up with industry trends.
Core features of FeedSpot include RSS Feed Aggregation, allowing users to follow updates from multiple sources in one dashboard, and Top Lists & Rankings based on a strong awareness of what is trending or popular on the Web. FeedSpot curates and publishes lists such as Canada’s Top Dance Blogs which is the list Delta Dance was included in. Most of the sites listed are related to contemporary dance, ballet, hip hop and other solo styles. Fewer blog sites are focused on partner dancing.
One of the things that gives FeedSpot credibility is that its rankings are not purely based on artificial algorithms as so many other lists do, but is largely based on human curation. FeedSpot’s rankings are a mix of editorial selection and data-driven analysis. Criteria can include:
Search engine visibility
Social media influence
Domain authority
Freshness and quality of content
Engagement metrics (e.g., comments, shares)
Of special note is the Authority Ranking attached to each listing. Every site is assigned an Authority Ranking by Google, which is a measure of how trustworthy the content is related to other similar sources of information. Higher is better. The Authority Ranking is based on a number of factors, including number of Google Reviews, the number of social media followers, and backlinks from other sites, especially if those are high authority sites.
Delta Dance articles are often referenced by dance teachers and authors around the world, leading to a reasonably high Authority Ranking. Our site suffers from not having a large number of followers on social media compared to some of the other blogs listed by FeedSpot, although we do have nearly 6,000 followers on YouTube.
At Delta Dance, our emphasis is on helping ballroom dancers across the globe, primarily social dancers, improve their technique and gain greater enjoyment of the benefits of partner dancing. Blog posts, written on a regular basis, highlight everything from the history of dances, to technical details, to how we can keep our bodies fit and healthy. Lately we’ve been incorporating more video content because dance is, after all, about movement and visual elements. Some articles have enjoyed huge readership, including one post that has been read by more than 150,000 dancers since it was published, booming in popularity after one of Europe’s top dance teachers shared the post on social media.
We will continue to work on bringing high quality content to help improve your social dance skills.
