ROSS COUNTY, OH — A 24-year-old Frankfort man died after a Jeep rollover crash in Ross County on Tuesday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Troopers said the single-vehicle wreck happened on County Road 550 near Heather Drive in Concord Township.
Investigators identified the driver as Collin Fout. They said the 2023 Jeep Wrangler was traveling southeast when it failed to make a curve, left the right side of the road, overturned and hit a utility pole. Fout was thrown from the vehicle and later died after being taken to a hospital.
Troopers say the Jeep left the roadway before overturning
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said troopers from the Chillicothe Post responded to the crash scene after the rollover was reported. The collision involved only one vehicle, and the Jeep came to rest after striking the utility pole.
Officials have not said whether weather, speed or a mechanical issue played any role in the crash. The basic sequence, however, was clear: the Jeep entered a curve on County Road 550, went off the roadway, overturned and ejected the driver.
Driver identified as 24-year-old Collin Fout of Frankfort
Authorities said the person who died was Collin Fout, 24, of Frankfort. He was driving a 2023 Jeep Wrangler at the time of the wreck.
The patrol said Fout was rushed to the hospital after the crash. Despite that response, he did not survive his injuries. No other injuries were reported because the crash involved just one vehicle.
Crash happened near Heather Drive in Concord Township
The wreck took place in Concord Township, a rural area in Ross County, near Heather Drive along County Road 550. That stretch of road is where troopers say the Jeep lost control and overturned.
A utility pole was damaged when the vehicle struck it, according to investigators. The location and the single-car nature of the crash suggest the investigation will focus on how the Jeep came off the road and why the driver was unable to recover before the rollover.
Ejection made the crash especially severe
Troopers said Fout was ejected from the Jeep during the rollover. In a crash like this, being thrown from a vehicle often indicates a violent overturn and can make injuries far more serious.
The patrol did not release information about whether Fout was wearing a seat belt. It also did not provide a timeline for the hospital transport or say how long emergency crews were on scene before he was taken for treatment.
