WHITE BEAR TOWNSHIP, MN — Two drivers were seriously hurt in a crash on Highway 61 in White Bear Township early Saturday, and one woman was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. Minnesota State Patrol said the collision happened just before 1 a.m. on northbound Highway 61 near Aspen Lane.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Authorities said the woman, who was driving a Toyota RAV4 and is 25 years old, was arrested after the crash and later released to the hospital.
How The Crash Happened
State Patrol said a Honda CRV was traveling northbound when the Toyota RAV4 was headed southbound and the vehicles collided near Aspen Lane. The agency did not release additional details about what led to the crash.
The crash shut down the normal flow of traffic in the area while responders worked the scene. No further information was released about other possible contributing factors.
Arrest And Pending Charges
The woman was arrested on suspicion of DWI, according to law enforcement. Officials said she is expected to face DWI and criminal vehicular operation charges once blood test results are complete.
Authorities did not identify the other driver beyond saying that person also suffered critical injuries. The current condition of either driver was not immediately known.
