ERDAHL TWP, MN — One person was killed and three others were injured in a crash on Interstate 94 Sunday afternoon in western Minnesota. The wreck happened just before 4 p.m. at Mile Post 80 in Grant County.
State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow said the crash took place in a construction zone where traffic was moving head-to-head.
How the crash unfolded
According to the State Patrol, a Tesla traveling east collided head-on with a Ford. A third vehicle, also heading east, then struck the other vehicles after the first impact.
The Tesla driver, a 73-year-old man from Woodbury, died at the scene. His passenger, a 65-year-old Woodbury woman, was seriously injured.
Injuries and responders
The Ford driver, a 24-year-old man from Jamestown, also suffered serious injuries. The driver of the third vehicle, a woman from Mandan, had injuries described as non-life-threatening.
I-94 was closed while crews worked at the scene and traffic was detoured around the crash area.

Several agencies responded to the wreck, including the Minnesota State Patrol, Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Ashby Fire and Ambulance, Evansville Fire, North Memorial EMS and Lifelink III.
Officials did not immediately release any further details about what led to the crash.
