Normally I do not write about places that I have not visited.
However, in this case because there is so much potential for any one interested in finding a different destination to uncover in 2026.
I felt that as much I would love to keep this a secret it is far too interesting a place.
Having many diverse travel experiences to educate, inform and stimulate the mind of any serious traveller.

Salta Offers A Great Variety Of Experiences
Although, I have visited Brazil and Nicaragua in Central America.
This turned out to be a section of Northern Argentina and the area around the city of Salta.
Salta.
Uncovering the area as I spoke with Martin Yaguado from the railway and Salta tourism team.
Yet more and more interesting places to explore as we spoke. Such as their high altitude deserts and the opportunity to travel on a rail line known as “The Train in the Clouds”.
The Train in the Clouds.
That journey begins with a road transfer from the city of Salta before arriving at San Antonio de los Cobres, where passengers board the train.
Riding on the line for an hour it culminates at the La Polvorilla Viaduct. Uniquely built of steel on a curve. The only one in the world! Located at 4,220 metres above sea level regarded as an remarkable engineering feat of the last century.
And if doing yet another experience that for me, would be a first. An introduction to life and living at 4,000 metres! My mount Kilimanjaro visit was a briefer up and down experience so not over a week in this sky high region.
Flamingos
The unique geography of the area and its wildlife was also something I would be very interested to to add to my travel wildlife knowledge. Llamas, giant Andean Condors, flamingos and Vicunas the wild version of the domesticated Alpaca.
