The Zig Zag, Back Lock and Running Finish is a figure found in the Addendum of the ISTD technique book. It’s classified as a Bronze figure, but not danced very often, probably for two reasons: it’s hidden in the back of the book, and it isn’t particularly easy.
In this 38-minute workshop, filmed during a group class, we go over this figure in detail. One of the more challenging aspects of this figure is that it begins with a lady’s heel turn, yet she has no rise, as the next step she takes is with the heel of the right foot. This requires an understanding of how to lead the heel turn and how to keep the lady from rising onto her toes, especially since the previous figure (a Double Reverse Spin) did include a rise onto the toes. For this workshop, we’ve placed the Zig Zag, Back Lock & Running Finish within a popular group of figures:
Natural Turn with Hesitation
Double Reverse Spin
Zig Zag, Back Lock & Running Finish
Natural Turn and Tipple Chasse
